TABLE TOP SALE: Well Knockanure Community Centre has a lot going on in the next while. On Sunday October 7th they will hold another indoor table top sale from 2 to 5 p.m. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone to sell unwanted items they may have. If you would like to learn or improve your Irish it is hoped that at the same venue in the near future Irish classes will be held for adults and will be suitable for beginners. The AGM of Athea Community Council takes place Monday night next Sept 17th at 8 p.m. at Top of the Town. Everybody welcome.
The annual coffee morning in aid of Milford Hospice takes place Thursday next 20th Sept in the memorial hall starting around 9.30 a.m. and continuing until after school, 3.30 p.m. No doubt this will be well supported as always and every Euro will help. There will be teas, coffees and cakes of all descriptions.
The wedding took place Friday last in St. Bartholomew's Church of Elaine Tierney, daughter of Noreen and John Chris, Templeathea to Robert Collins, son of Kathleen and Paddy, Knocknagorna. Fr. Paddy Bowen was the celebrant of the nuptial ceremony. Bridesmaids were Norma Brouder, Marie O'Connor and Katie Scanlon. Bestman was Tom Collins and groomsmen were Gerard Collins and Padraig Mullane. Flowergirl was Clodagh Holly McCarthy and pageboy was Jamie Collins. It was off to the Ballygarry House Hotel in Tralee where family, relatives and friends had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Congrats and best wishes to the newly weds.
Athea Community Council held its draw Saturday night at Batts, the jackpot was E6900, numbers drawn were 2, 3, 16, 21, no winner. Athea Comhaltas is holding a grand ceili at The Gables this Friday Sept 14th with music by Domhnall de Barra. There will be hot food served and free tuition by Timmy Woulfe from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m. with emphasis on ceili dances, ceili starts at 9.30, sets called.
