ASDEE -- all the news

"Ramblers House" will take place in the Community Centre on this Friday night 27th November at 9pm (Sharp) Come along and enjoy a wonderful night of music, song, dance, recitation and fun. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome. We would appreciate more local support for this local initiative.

CHOIR

Anthony & Miriam Hanlon are members of a wonderful Choir in Tralee called "Achoired". The Choir consists of approximately 30 young people. They are busy rehearsing for a special concert which takes place at Siamse Tire in Tralee on Wednesday 5th December. The Choir have been invited to sing with Fr Liam Lawton, which is a great honour.

BEST WISHES

Best Wishes also to Miriam Hanlon who is a member of the Tralee Junior Chamber Choir. They will be taking part in a Christmas Concert at St John's Church Tralee on Sunday 9th December at 8pm. Special guest on the night will be renowned opera singer Miriam Murphy. It promises to be a great night

ACTIVE RETIRED CHRISTMAS PARTY

Asdee Active Retired Christmas Party and Dinner will take place at Teach De Broc, Ballybunion on Sunday 9th December. Bus will leave Jack J's carpark at 11.45pm sharp. The cost of the meal is €25.00, all money to be paid by Friday 30th November please.

HISTORICAL OCCASION

On Monday morning November 19th a historical occasion was experienced when St.Joseph's Secondary School ,following renovations, moved into the previous St.Joseph's Primary School. The Staff and Students are most impressed with the new building and grateful that they now have the opportunity to increase the facilities in the school. Our Parent/Teacher meeting on Wednesday proved nostalgic for some parents who had attended primary school in the building. Every good wish to those using the building.

CREDIT UNION ART COMPETITION

The theme this year for the annual Credit Union Art Competition was 'Celebrating Community Colour'. Many of the Art Students in the school under the guidance of Miss Nealon entered the competition. In the 14-17 age category first prize went to Kayleigh Ryall (5th yr). Louise Lawlor and Róisin Cummins (6th yr) came second and third respectively. In the 11-13 age category Ellen Tydings achieved first place. Fellow 1st yr Estelle Doyle won 2nd place. There was a further 1st yr winner, Leah Moriarty in the Special category. Congratulations to all these students and Miss Nealon. The 1st prize winners in the three categories will go forward to the next stage of the competition. Best of luck to them in this.

SENIOR BOYS FOOTBALL

After a great victory against Tralee the previous week, the boys senior gaelic football team of St.Joseph's Secondary School were out again on Wednesday 21st November. Killorglin Community College were the opposition. Playing on a poor pitch the conditions were less than favourable. The boys played against the breeze in the first half, and were more than happy to go in at the break 2;06 to 3;01 up. Playing some great football they over whelmed their opponents in the second half, keeping them scoreless. Brian Wall was in superb form catching any kick out that came his way. He also scored 1;03. The forward line were also in great form with Ian Mannix (2;03) and Wayne Jones (1;04) being the top scorers. Also on the score sheet were Owen Tydings (0;05), Conor Kennelly (0;02) and Daniel Ellis (0;01). The final score was 4;18 to 3;01.

The team were; Cian O'Mahony, Mark O'Donoghue, Blake Hornyak, David Foley, Kevin O'Donnell, Jack Gogarty, Ryan O'Connor, Brian Wall, Daniel Ellis, Killian Walsh, Owen Tydings, Wayne Jones, Conor Kennelly, Ian Mannix and Shane Kissane. Subs used were; Gearóid Farrell Kendlin, Paddy Horgan and William Kissane. Congratulations to the panel and Mr D.Dalton and continued success in their games.

Membership Drive The club are commencing a membership drive, for an annual fee of only ten euros.A membership card holder will have the chance too win in a special membership draw at Christmas time.Members will also be entitled to vote at the clubs annual A.G.M,This will help chart the clubs progress going forward.All club supporters are asked to get behind this new endeavor, cards available from committee members. SANDPIPERS

The Sandpipers Golf Society have their last outing of the season next Saturday when they make the short journey to the Cashen Course in Ballybunion.

It is one of the big competitions of the year with the Hick Cup up for grabs.

Teeing of time is at 10am.
