Lady luck shone on the Asdee Races on Sunday with weather conditions very favourable for the big local social occasion at Littor Strand. A big crowd turned out for what a great family day out in very pleasant autumnal weather.
The monthly St Pio Devotions will be held at St Mary's Church on this Wednesday evening October 3rd at 7 30pm. The ceremony will commence with Mass which is for the repose of the soul of our late curate Fr Michael Maher followed by Benidiction.
Our local postman Mossie Moriarty of Main Street Ballylongford takes out his last batch of mail this Friday after which he retires after 15 years of dedicated service to the local community as the parish postman which h was greatly appreciated by everyone.
During this time he built up a great relationahsip with the people of the area and provided a great service to the area.
He was very helpful and obliging to everyone along his daily routes and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Everyone joins in wishing Mossie a long, happy, and contented retirement.
A social function to mark his retirement will be held at Speedy's Bar in Ballylongford on this Friday night October 6th at 8 30pm.
SHANNON RANGERS TO CELEBRATE
Shannon Rangers is to hold a function to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Senior County Final in which we were victorious. In 1973, Shannon Rangers became the 1st county minor champions and this will also be celebrated in Carmody Hall in Ballylongford on Sat 24th November with music by Stevie Donegan. Tickets are €10 and are available in the coming weeks from Robert Stack, Maurice King or Gráinne Toomey
ACTIVE RETIREMENT GROUP TEA DANCE
The Asdee Active Retirement Group are holding a Tea Dance at the community centre on Sunday October 21st from 2pm to 6pm.
Music will be provided by Stevie Donegan and Active Rerirement Groups from the North Kerry and West Limerick area.
WINTER COURSES IN ASDEE
Anyone that is considereing something usefull to occupy their time during the long winter nights ahead will be glad to know that Kerry Education Service will be holding courses at the local community centre which should be appealing to a lot of people.
