Killorglin 1 Asdee Rovers 2 Asdee Rovers and Killorglin produced a fine game of soccer on a great pitch with the away side taking all three points in an exciting contest full of free flowing football.
Killorglin started the better and with wind advantage and threatened the Asdee goal on a few occasions but Asdee were dangerous on the break and went a goal ahead after fifteen minutes when a great run by Tom Pierse split the Killorglin defence and he passed to Liam Mc Elligott for a tap in goal.
There was further Joy for Asdee on twenty minutes when the Killorglin defenders left a ball hop over their heads and Tom Pierse found himself in space to chip the keeper for a delightful goal.
Killorglin did not give up and began to play some good football and with wind advantage kept the pressure on Asdee. Killorglin were rewarded just before half time when they were awarded a free kick twenty yards out, Aidan O Connor hit a beautiful left foot shot to beat Tom Quinn and put them back in the game just before half time.
With wind advantage Asdee started the second half on the front foot and Liam Mc Elligott and Tom Pierse had numerous chances but failed to convert them and make the game safe for Asdee.
Killorglin began to get on top in midfield and Asdee introduced Billy Funicane to steady the ship and he drew a great save from the Killorglin keeper on seventy five minutes.
The best chance of the half fell to Killorglin with five minutes remaining Johnny Carey picked up a loose ball in the Asdee box and his shot beat Tom Quinn only to come back off the post to allow Cillian Beasley clear off the line and a big let off for the away side , a bit unlucky on Killorglin who are playing better after a few games under their belt but Asdee were the better side and deserved the win in a close contest to top the Premier B table on full points at this early stage.
Best for Asdee: Maurice O Connor, Tom Pierse ,John Griffin and Mark Culloty.
