All credit to the winners

SOME of Kerry best and brightest young students and artists have been honoured at the annual Tralee Credit Union Youth Awards.

More than 150 people attended awards ceremony which was held on Friday night at Tralee's Manor West Hotel.

Presentations were made to students from primary, secondary and third level for Tralee Credit Union's Annual Art Competition, their Education and Dan Kellegher Memorial Awards. A special presentation was also made to the students who run Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School's Credit Union.

In all 20 young artists who took part in Tralee Credit Union Art competition received prizes and the first place winners in each category will now go on to represent Tralee at regional level in the Irish League of Credit Unions Art Competition.

The main event of the night saw the presentation of Tralee Credit Union's Education Awards and the Dan Kellegher Memorial Awards which saw €10,500 divided between seven third level students from Tralee, Castleisland and Abbeydorney.

Margaret Kellegher, daughter of the late Dan Kellegher presented cheques to the two winners of the Dan Kellegher Memorial Award.

The following were the winners in the Art Competition. 7 years and under: 1st: Adam Carroll, Knockaclarig National School, Brosna.

2nd Laura Mahoney, Knockaclarig National School, Brosna.

3rd Megan Enright, Kilmurry National School Cordal, Castleisland. 8 to 10 years 1st: Lisa Flynn, Kilmurry National School Cordal, Castleisland.

2nd: Ellie Lenihan, Cloghers National School, Ballymacelligott.

3rd: Eileen Novac, Scoil Eoin, Balloonagh, Tralee. 11 to 13 years 1st :Lauren Marie Rohan, Meanscoil Nua an Leith Triuigh, Castlegregory.

2nd: Clodagh Byrne, Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School, Tralee.

3rd Eidin Dowling, Scoil Eoin, Balloonagh Tralee. 14 to 17 years 1st: Norma Harrington, Brookfield College, Tralee.

2nd: Aimee Maher, Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School Tralee.

3rd: Chelsea Winter, Brookfield College, Tralee 18 years and over 1st Cloda Curran, Brookfield College, Tralee

2nd Sarah Prendergast, University of Limerick

3rd Rosie O'Halloran, Brookfield College, Tralee Special Category 7 years and under 1st Kayleigh Smyth, Killahan National School, Abbeydorney.

2nd Adam Godley, Killahan National School, Abbeydorney.

3rd Darren Lynchehan, Killahan National School, Abbeydorney. 8 to 10 years 1st Clodagh Enright, Kilmurry National School, Cordal, Castleisland.
