After 204 years' work, retired hospital staff have time to party

FAMILY, friends and coworkers congregated at the Skellig Hotel last Friday night to bid a fond farewell to seven of their Dingle Hospital colleagues who retired this year after many years of dedicated service.

Jacinta O'Hanlon, Brenda O'Connor, Mary Barrett, Mary Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Devane, Mary Greaney and Maria Kavanagh – who between them have 204 years of combined service across the nursing, health-care and administration departments – all retired this year and the night celebratied their contribution the community of West Kerry.

At the event, Dingle Hospital matron Deirdre Quaid spoke of the ladies' commitment in their respective roles and said their experience, professionalism and care had a profound and positive impact on the lives of many patients.

"It was a night of celebration and a number of presentations were also made to recognise the ladies' contribution over the years," said Deirdre, who wished all those retiring the very best in the years to come.
