BACK in August we told you how, due to the overwhelming success of The Lartigue Theatre Group and Listowel Folk Group's production 'John B After 10,' the groups were invited to perform at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
Well for those who cannot make the Dublin show on November 21, fear not - because you can now catch the hugely popular production right here at home.
Due to phenomenal demand, 'John B after 10' will enjoy a six night run at St John's from November 13 to 18, as well as a two night run in Tralee's Siamsa Tire on November 27 and 28.
Combining songs, comedy and music, the spectacular show was devised by Lartigue founder and close friend of John B, Danny Hannon, to mark the 10th anniversary of the writer's death. As Danny explained, it is a beautiful work, full of the humourous letters that John B wrote in his earlier years as well as his music performed by the Listowel Folk Group.
In an exciting first for producers, John B's grandson John will be making his debut with the Lartigue Drama Group, joining the experienced cast for the home shows, as well as the anticipated performance the National Concert Hall
The show also contains a long-lost poem of John B's that was found in a copy of the Shannonside Annual during research Danny Hannon carried out in recent years. "It's a fantastic poem called ' The Kerry Man' that hasn't really seen the light until now as it is not in any of John B Keane's collections." Due to the massive success of the show during Writer's Week, early booking is advisable through St John's (068 22566) or Siamsa Tire (066 23055).
