OVER 100 tractors left from Cahersiveen recently, participants in the Seán Ó Sé Memorial Vintage Tractor Run which raised funds for Island View Day Care Centre and Valentia Hospital.

Indeed, the final tally was an impressive 106 and their journey took in Ballinskelligs, Portmagee and Valentia before returning to Cahersiveen for refreshments, including a pig on a spit kindly donated by Muiris Kelly. The Sunday afternoon convoy left at 1pm and returned by 5.15pm where they were greeted by local supporters.

Organiser Cormac Lynch said he was delighted at the turnout which saw 23 more tractors participating this year compared to last year's inaugural run.

"It was a mighty day and we've raised in the region of €7,500 with money still coming in," Cormac stated.

"It's around the same figure as last year which was in aid of Motor Neurone and so we're delighted at the total. Thankfully the weather was good and people came out in droves to support us which certainly helped," he added.
