THIRD year students from IT Tralee's Adventure Tourism Management course have raised €1,000 for the Movember cancer charity fund by hosting a glitzy Oscar themed ball.

The money was raised though collections at the students' "Night to Movember" which took place at Tralee's Central Hotel in late November.

Guests walked the red carpet, were snapped by mock paparazzi and enjoyed a champagne and jazz reception before settling in to enjoy a screening of comedy Anchorman, a cult film beloved by the Movember movement. An old school ticket booth was erected for the night where guests who hadn't spent November growing their own moustaches were given comedy 'taches to wear for the night.

€1,000 was raised through collections at the college and from guests on the night and the cheque was presented to a representative of the Movember fund at IT Tralee's North campus last week.

When the movie came to an end, five unsuspecting guests won vouchers and other items from the Regatta outdoor store, Sean Husseys, Ryle's, Chez Christophe and the IT Tralee HTC restaurant, each of whom sponsored the event.

Five students also received Moscar Awards, which were presented to the Best Dressed Gentleman, Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Couple, Miss Movember and Best Moustache.
