€18,450 for groups under fund

17 groups and projects in town are to receive €18,450 under the third year of the county's Community Support Fund - out of an overall pot of €133,000 for groups right across the greater Listowel Municipal District Area.

Announced last week, the Fund will see €18,450 of the total pot staying in town - split among the following organisations and projects: KDYS (€350); Listowel Pitch and Putt (€500); Lios Tuathail AC (€450); Glór na nGael (€600); Kerry Writers' Museum (€1,000); Listowel and District Historical Society (€500); Listowel Military Tattoo (€1,250); Listowel-Panissieres Twinning (€500); Listowel Tidy Towns (€2,500); Listowel Writers' Week (€7,500); Revival Music Festival (€1,500); St Patrick's Hall Committee (€500); Toastmasters Area 36 (€250); Listowel Celtic (€450); Listowel Community Centre (€500); Listowel Family Resource Centre (€500) and Listowel Rugby Club (€450). The fund sets out exactly what the money is being provided for each group.

"I am delighted to see this money going into communities," Cllr Mike Kennelly said. "Local community and voluntary organisations are the lifeblood of our society and without them our communities would be much poorer places. This funding will help to support existing and new projects in a very meaningful way," he added.
