James, a resident of Hawley Park, joined Tralee Town Council in 2000 aged 53 and has spent the last 13 years making sure the county capital's taps were running and water was flowing as a key member of the the local authority's Water Services section.

While James says he has no immediate plans for his retirement, the keen walker and swimmer is looking forward to relaxing and to having more time to enjoy his hobbies. James has no plans to rest on his laurels and says he intends keeping himself as busy as ever now that he's entered his retirement.

A great night was had by all.
