Update that '80s look

Dirty dancing, Topgun, Starwars and Indiana jones were the blockbusters, Bon jovi were living on a prayer, Dexys Midnight Runners wanted Eileen to come on and Duran Duran were hungry like a wolf. White tank tops and parachute pants and big plastic jewellery was considered radical.
Like, totally '80s make up is back. Do you remember Cyndi Laupers, neon eye shadow, bright pink lips and lots of blusher? Subtle was not the aim of this make up, but seeing as we have gone all sophisticated nowadays the look has been updated. Foundation is not as thick but the BB creams are still very much in - check out clinque's new CC cream. Eyes are fun, purple, yellow, orange, green or a combination of them all. Lancome do a great green eye palette called Hypnose Doll. The smokey eyes can still be done - just make the colours brighter. Eyeliner was big in the '80s and the update is still big - using liner on the eyelids but adding colour underneath and blending to keep the whole thing fresh and modern. Complete the eyes with lashings of mascara - No. 7 have a new vitamin enhanced mascara that gives big volume and the brush is great. Another great look for eyes is metallic - L'Oreal do chrome intensity that isfull of great shades; Rimmel have glam eyes; HD and 17 have 16 solo shades. Ladies who remember '80s makeup might like to try 17's wild metallic eyes as it is a long-wear cream eye shadow and will look more flattering and not lodge in the creases.
Blusher was applied in perfectly straight lines back in the '80s - just think of David Bowie and Debbie Harry. These days, I would recommend blending blusher because looking like a clown is never a good look, and maybe go for a peach blusher like Bourjois Healthy Mix 41 over a pink blush to bring the look bang up to date.
Fuchsia and orange were the big colours for lipstick in the '80s and women used lip liner to make their lips look bigger and more defined. The update is to find a lipstick and lip liner that work in perfect harmony such as Rimmel's Exaggerate lip liner in Eastend Snob, combined with Rimmel Colour Showoff lipstick in shake up pink. Max factor do colour elixer pens which come in four shades and also do two great lip colours - pink brandy and bewitched coral. Nails are bright - like neon bright - for example Mayebellines Colour Show nail polish. Have fun with this new trend and add a pop of colour into your make up routine but please leave perms, legs warmers and shoulder pads in the past where they belong.
There are a lot of new products that have just come on to our shelves, such as Lancome's new multi lift reviva plasma serum, which aims to firm, lift tone and revitalise skin. It has a gel texture, fragranced with a floral, woody scent. It is applied using a special technique which incorporates facial stimulation and smoothing. Kate Winslet is the face of Renergie Multi Lift Reviva Plasma, which costs €102.
N0 7 have BB lips with UV protection, moisturising, sheer colour and protection. It comes in four shades and is a great idea for summer days.
PIXY have brought out a glowing body butter, which is light and fluffy and an itsy bit goes a long way. It heals and nurses dry skin and rejuvenates elasticity, also giving the skin a lovely sheen and would be great along a tanned shinbone to elongate legs. What I like about this product is that the shimmer comes from a wonderful natural mineral source called mica. Finely ground mica has beneficial effects and also produces a healthy, subtle shimmer on the skin. It costs €12.99.
There is a new secret weapon to fight spots from Vichy called Normaderm Hyaluspot, which is said to be clinically proven to reduce spots and minimise marks. Its applicator is very soothing and the formula is enriched with hyaluronic acid which puts an invisible and protective film on the surface of the skin and the salicylic acid helps to fight the appearance of spots. Also very purse friendly.
Elizabeth Arden's 'Flawless Finish' has a new improved formula = popular shades are 'honey', 'perfect' and 'warm' and it instantly diminishes discolouration and fine lines to give a perfectly even, radiant finish that lasts 12 hrs. If we are to believe Rihanna - it shines bright like a diamond. The only downside is that the new formula is a little more expensive - well after all we are talking diamonds.
If you are looking for a facial that is just designed for you try out Nadur Spa at Ballygarry House in Tralee, where their new product range is the award-winning Aromatherapy Associates. These products use essentials oils for aroma and have natural healing powers. Facials are customized to meet your individual skins needs. Also check out their eco lava sea shell massage, similar to hot stone massage but nicer.
Sundari Spa in the Killarney Plaza was created by international supermodel Christy Turlington. In 2012 they were the proud winners of the Irish Spa Style Award and Killarney is Sundari's only Irish flagship spa. They believe inner serenity creates outside radiance, based on Ayurveda - an ancient holistic healing art that originated on the Indian continent. Sundari users experience noticeable results, achieving beauty through balance, staying younger looking and preventing the effects of premature aging. The spa is indeed very stylish and the couples treatment room is amazing.
New to Chanel is les beiges, which is a collection of seven shades of face colour. These products are not bronzing, iridescent or whitening but offer a natural healthy glow. It is suitable for our fair skins and will not give an orange glow.
So ladies don't forget, to pop on some colour and, in the immortal words of Cyndi Lauper, remember that Girls Just Want to Have Fun
