There's also some straight-up foodie content with talks on breadmaking, chocolate, wine and food pairing, food allergies, and the IT culinary students will showcase their wares.

SKY/GAA DEAL GOOD FOR SMALL CLUBS – FITZGERALD

FIANNA Fáil candidate in the upcoming local elections, Breandán Fitzgerald, feels that any plans by the GAA hierarchy to allow some games to be shown on subscription satellite service Sky TV should benefit small clubs who are finding it difficult to survive in the current climate.

"If all the teams involved are acknowledged and if it promotes our games to a wider audience, while still allowing our National Broadcaster an opportunity to show all or any of our games to the Irish people at no additional cost - I'd have no problem with it," said Breandán, who is also PRO for CLG Daingean Uí Chúis.

"Hopefully, with the spring coming and longer evenings and a bit of heat, we will be getting out to watch more local games in the playing fields of West Kerry and help keep our clubs going," he added.
