Support group to kick smoking habit

TRYING to kick the smoking habit? A new support group starting soon in town is hoping to help people get off the fags once and for all in a new chapter for the health of participants.

The six-week Stop Smoking support group, starting on Monday, November 4, will focus on a variety of areas including; giving support and advice on how to quit; advice on the different approaches and techniques needed for quitting; tips on coping with withdrawal symptoms including weight gain, cravings and relaxation techniques.

It's completely free and takes place in the Listowel Family Resource Centre every Monday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm until Monday, December 9. It will be given by HSE Smoking Cessation Officer Mary Lawless and is run under the auspices of the Kerry Community Services, HSE South. Ring Mary on (066)7195617 for more details.
