The idea of the weeklong celebration of all things French and German was to help the students practice and develop their language skills in a fun environment outside the classroom while also allowing them sample a little of each culture.

A whole host of French and German themed events took place at the school between Monday and Friday, including a visit from a French touring theatrical company who staged a play in the school hall and a German/French "Au Marché/Am Markt."

That market, for the school's junior students was organised and run by the transition year class and saw them selling French and German staples like croissants, sachertorte and hot chocolate.

Other events throughout the week included French and German bingo, a poster competition for first year students, quizzes in language classes for third year students and a lunchtime treasure hunt for the sixth years.
