PUPILS from the senior classes in St Brendan's National School in Blennerville swapped the classroom for the open road and set off on a cycle to Fenit last week, all in the interest of developing their fitness and road sense.
Led by Principal Terry O'Sullivan and Fr Francis Nolan, the students were also joined on their cycle by a full garda escort to make sure they were kept safe.
The cycle was organised to both introduce the pupils to the principles of safe cycling on busy roads and as part of the school's ongoing effort to promote fitness and personal health.
Around 30 pupils took part in the cycle and on their arrival in Fenit the youngsters were able to enjoy the beach and playground before getting back on their bikes for the cycle to Blennerville.
