HUNDREDS of young athletes lined out to take part in the Tralee International Marathon Schools Race which took place on Monday afternoon in Tralee.
Around 250 school students from Tralee's secondary schools competed in the three kilometre race which saw runners make their way from the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre along the path behind the Aqua Dome and cinema. This was before they looped back and completing a lap of the Wetlands Centre.
The first boy home was Cillian Tierney of Mounthawk Secondary School who completed the course in 10 minutes and 34 seconds. The first girl home was Shannon Quill of Presentation Secondary School who crossed the finish line on a time of 13 minutes and 14 seconds.
