RESTAURANTS and bars across South Kerry were overflowing with romance on Friday night as couples came out to celebrate St Valentine's Day.
In Killarney restaurateurs were reporting one of their busiest February 14th celebrations in many years, buoyed by the fact that St Valentine's Day fell on a Friday this year.
Accommodation providers in the town were also benefitting from the Friday date with many loved-up couples choosing to push the boat out and make a romantic weekend of it in the plush surroundings of Killarney's many award winning hotels.
The town was literally buzzing with activity over the weekend, and while many couple's were celebrating the most romantic day of the year the town also played host to a number of non-couple events, including The Killarney Grand where singletons were out in force over the St Valentine's weekend.
It was not only Killarney that benefited from a bumper February 14th however, bars and restaurants across South Kerry put huge effort into the day attracting couples out for a night of pampering and great food.
