New course in meditation

WITH so much noise and pressures in our busy, modern lives there has perhaps never been a more important time to consider the benefits of meditation.
A new course starting soon in the Listowel Family Resource Centre will give everyone seeking respite from worries, depression and anxiety the chance to delve deep within themselves to come to a much healthier and peaceful perspective on what's really happening.
That's according to Listowel resident Jason Gorham who will teach participants how to meditate in the new Alchemy course starting on Tuesday, April 23.
"It's an amazing thing really," Tralee native Jason said. "The benefits of meditation are incredible and once you learn it, you have it. I teach people how to integrate it into their lives 24/7.
"It's for everyone, even the healthiest among us. You might have people who take care of themselves physically for instance, do all the right things in terms of diet and exercise but who might neglect the spiritual side of life. In meditation we use the imagination initially to cultivate awareness.
"We can get so wrapped up in our worries, our fears and desires that we are unconscious of them so to change in a major way we must become aware of our fears and habits. But we also become aware of our energy and of ourselves as separate from the things that upset us. And then you can begin to achieve balance, clean yourself up and start to quieten your space. The benefits of meditation are incredible really," Jason said.
It's called Alchemy for good reason: "Alchemy is the ability to transform one possibility into another using the power of intention and thought."
