Monthly car boot sale to raise funds for community centre
ARTISAN producers in Listowel and across the region are being given a place where they can bring their goods to market thanks to a new initiative from the Community Centre.
The community sports facility is starting a new monthly 'car boot' sale, and are looking for members of the public to come along if they wish to sell second hand items of all types. However, Community Centre organiser Frank Lawlor said he also hopes to attract many craftspeople from across north Kerry to come along each month to set up stalls.
There will be space for 50 stalls at the indoor car boot sale with a cover charge of €15 for each pitch.
"All the proceeds generated will be put towards our ongoing costs at the Community Centre. We're really hoping to reach out to craftspeople who took part in our craft fair here last November, which was a massive success.
"If this gets going, we would hope to establish it as a monthly event and it could prove a fantastic opportunity for crafts people and ordinary members of the public to sell their wares," Frank said.
Many of the traders at the November fair sold out of stock within the space of just a few hours. The first car boot sale will take place on Sunday, May 25, running between 9am and 12 noon.
