Market whetting the appetite
"A CELEBRATION of the natural bounty of our county, produced with care and flair by dedicated artisan food producers from all over Kerry," the Killarney Natural Food Market has proved a big hit this summer and is continuing to do so, according to Market co-ordinator Sarah O'Brien.
The KNFM takes place every Friday from 12pm until 5pm in the Killarney Outlet Centre and its large spread of local produce, including fresh baking, eggs, seaweeds, farm produce, meats, sweets, and relishes, has proved a huge success.
Producers at the market are all local and pride themselves on supplying only the finest natural food, according to Sarah.
Some of the stalls on show on the day include: double Gold Star award winning Hartys Pepper Jellies, Lorna Tyther's vegan delights from the multi-award winning Phoenix Restaurant, Mary Rose Doherty's home baking, Claire & Ian's Home Made belgum waffles, pancakes and gluten-free range, Val Golden's salads, humus and pestos, O'Connell's free-range table ducks and fresh eggs, Glynn Farm Produce, Fab Fudge, Sásta Sausages and Puddings, Hulberts Fine Foods vegetarian pates, Natural Seaweeds, Barbara Linnanes home-made chocolate, Hilary McCarthy and Mary Walsh's fresh herbs and vegetables, Nibbles Food Emporium, Square Hole home brewing sets, Eva's Cottage produce, and Pádraig O' Súilleabháin gives advice on how to achieve optium health through nutrition.
"We [KNFM] plan to become a permanent market fixture for the people of Killarney year-round," said Sarah.
"The generous sponsorship and practical support of the people of Killarney is very much appreciated," she added.
