THE Bog 2 Beach Adventure Challenge organisers were delighted with Saturday's inaugural event, blessed by sunshine and intense sporting action as it was.
It was the brainchild of Kerry Crusaders founder Gordon Flannery, held in aid of the Listowel Community Centre and completely not for profit.
Gordon was extremely pleased with how everything went on the day, not least the fact that every athlete made it home without injury. The overwhelming reaction of positivity surrounding the event also came as a major relief.
"I'm very happy with it," Gordon said, speaking at the finishing line in the town park on Saturday. "About 60 took part in total and I'm happy with that for the first year, just to get the event on the map. It was a great test of everyone, as well as the route itself, and the weather was fantastic!"
Although not taking part in the race Gordon had passed his own greatest challenge for the day. "My biggest challenge was getting everyone home safe and sound and we've done that thank God."
Community Centre manager Tony Duggan was very happy with how everything turned out. "I'm delighted with it, Gordon has done a great job and we were absolutely blessed with the weather. It's great funding for the Community Centre and a great thing to bring people into Listowel and north Kerry."
