Returning to The Hotel Europe, this year's event is set for Tuesday, October 15, starting with a cheese and wine reception (7.30pm) before the models take to the catwalk.

Stores showcased will include Jasmine, MacBees, New Look, Bijou Boutique, Marks and Spencer, Pillbox, Pennys, Kerry's Boutique and Weardrobe and shoes and handbags will be by Who's 4 Shoes.

Sponsored by The Lodges at Kenmare Bay Hotel Resort, the top door prize on the night will be a two-night break for four. Best dressed is sponsored by Keane's Jewellers and other prizes include two €200 vouchers courtesy of Boyle's in Killorglin.

"We have been organising the annual fashion show for 24 years and have raised well in excess of €100,000 for the local community in that time, so long may it continue," committee members said, adding: "The evening will provide a chance to see what is right on your doorstep without the hassle of shopping around".

Organised by Fossa Community Centre and Fossa National School, funds raised from the show will go towards the newly opened Fossa Amenity Park.

Located directly behind Fossa National School, the €540,000 amenity park includes a state-of-the-art all-weather sports pitch capable of hosting two five-a-side matches and suitable for a variety of uses including school activities. It is also available to the public to enjoy and has high safety netting behind the posts to facilitate GAA matches.

A 200m athletics track which runs along the perimeter of the pitch and the astro turf can also be adapted to cater for activities such as aerobics, pilates, bowls, circuit walking or jogging.

"We are making the facility available at a very competitive price, to any clubs, organisations, community groups or groups of friends who might want to organise a sports event, a training session or even a fun get-together," Fossa National School principal, Pat Clifford, said. "It would also be ideal for activity-based birthday parties and all the revenue generated through rental will be ploughed back into Fossa National School."

The astro turf pitch and athletics track are available to rent from 4pm-10pm daily and from 10m to 10pm at weekends. Book online go to fossaschool@gmail.com.
