Eileen to change eating habits

YEARS of struggling with digestive problems and a burning desire to improve her own health has not only led Brosna's Eileen Lane to undergo some lifestyle changes, but has also prompted her to become a nutrition advisor.
The former Kerryman journalist and current office manager at Kenneally & Murphy Ltd, Architecture & Engineering in Abbeyfeale, pictured, is now focusing on helping others to make positive changes in their eating habits so they can lead healthier, happier lives.
After battling with digestive problems and food intolerances for a number of years, Eileen went further than most and not only sought advice for her own problems but began studying Dietary Counselling with The Institute of Health Sciences. Although reluctant to return to college after years in the world of work, the 32-year-old managed to combine her studies with her full-time job and the rest, as they say, is history.
"For many years there were days when getting out of bed seemed like such a mountain to climb, so a battle with digestive issues and a gluten intolerance loomed," Eileen explained. "It was my own gluten intolerance that drove me into the kitchen to take responsibility for the food that enters my system. Before that, my reliance was on the deli counter or burning the backside out of a saucepan while simply trying to prepare beans on toast."
As a nutrition advisor, Eileen's role is to inspire, educate and instruct people towards good health and personal change by analysing their current diet and lifestyle and formulating a healthy eating programme which is unique to them. She also offers personalised eight-week weight loss programmes.
She is keen to stress, however, that as a nutrition advisor she does not aim to diagnose or treat any presenting symptoms or named diseases but instead concentrates on an individual's overall health and wellbeing. She can also work in conjunction with a person's GP to set them on a healthier lifestyle path.
Confidential one to one appointments with Eileen are available at Feale Fit, Mountmahon, Abbeyfeale or at All Therapy Centre, Rock Street, Tralee. Contact 087 3950063 or at firstname.lastname@example.org or her Facebook page "Eileen Lane - Nutrition Advisor".
