Don't put the bike away, the Day Care Cycle is coming

Tom Kenny, Currow CC secretary, with Helen Barrett, Scartaglin, and Marcella Finn, nurse/manager at Castleisland Day Care Centre.

The annual Castleisland Day Care Centre Cycle will take place on this Sunday September 8th from the local rugby club at 10am.

Registration starts at 9am and closes at 9.45am with the roll out from 10 am. There is a choice of circuits of: 10, 30 or 50 miles in a route that you can opt for your distance as you go along.

"This is to encourage and emphasise that the day is for all abilities. It will not be treated like a race - the club has participated and hosted the races for the year and this event is leisure only.

If it is a race you want you are in the wrong place," said John Breen from the organising, Currow Cycling Club.

Minimum sponsorship/entry fee is €20 with family deals also available to encourage under 18's to take part. Younger cyclists are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

"So, all in all we are looking forward to seeing you on the day. Whether it's a case of keeping your cycling going or if you will have to dust the bike down and pump the tyres. The important thing is to get on the road for the worthy and local cause. All proceeds from the event will go to the Castleisland Day Care Centre," said Mr. Breen.
