CURROW's beautiful Ellen O'Shea is all set is represent Kerry in the Miss Ireland Pageant this weekend. The 21-year-old was sponsored by Marco's Gluten Free Pizzas restaurant in Castleisland and was crowned with the title of Miss Kerry back in April competing against 30 other women from Kerry.
Ellen is studying Art and Installation in CIT Crawford Art and Design and is heading into her third year of studies in September. She entered the Miss Kerry pageant because she wants to be a role model to younger girls who are so influenced by the world around them. Ellen explains that she was a victim of bullying when she was younger and wants to show girls that you can get through the emotional hurt and come out the other end. She wants to show younger girls, who are victims of bullying, how well she is doing.
"I've been working so hard to prepare for this weekend. I've been going to the gym and eating healthy. I have attended fashion shows, which I loved, and charity events. The amount of people I've met along the way has been incredible and they have been so supportive," said Ellen.
Dublin's Ballsbridge Hotel is the setting for this year's Miss Ireland finals. Commencing on Saturday, Ellen will be judged in various sections. These include eveningwear, cocktail wear and swimwear. There will also be two days of rehearsals in which the judges will assess how they conduct themselves and how they answer each question during the interview process. All of which will happen on stage. Killorglin designer Tina Griffin has designed a gorgeous evening gown for Ellen to wear on Saturday.
"I want to combine the modelling work I do with the charity events that I'm involved with. I really hope to be a role model for younger girls," added Ellen.
