Big win at Galway Races

THERE'S at least one Tralee woman who thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Galway Races last week.
Josephine O'Dea from Ashgrove in Ballyvelly was the toast of Ballybrit last Wednesday after she scooped the top €40,000 prize in the Tote 'Live The Dream' national sweepstake.
Her win was all down to the aptly named 'Road To Riches' who romped home in the Galway Plate to secure the top prize for Josephine.
Tote's Live The Dream promotion has been running for the last four months with all Tote customers entered into a free draw when they placed a Pick 6, Placepot, Jackpot, Trifecta or Exacta bet. From an initial 100,000 entries, 400 names were picked at random and then 22 finalists were selected. Each of the finalists was then assigned a horse in The Galway Plate with Josephine drawing the Noel Meade trained 14/1 shot.
Her luck held out and following Road to Riches and jockey Shane Shortall's comprehensive win Josephine was presented with a cheque for €40,000 by Tote Ireland CEO Tim Higgins.
Josephine, who worked at The Department of Agriculture until she retired in 2012, said she was thrilled with her big and entirely unexpected win.
"I just can't believe that I've won €40,000. I am over the moon. I had a great day and would like to thank everyone in Tote Ireland and I'm now definitely Shane Shortall's and Road To Riches' number one fan. I really am on the road to riches now," said Josephine.
