IT seems that YouTube is a serious vehicle on the path to stardom after a Killarney restaurateur successfully used the Internet site to build a following that will ultimately seen him become a celebrity chef on national TV.

Paul Treyvaud (pictured) (39) took to YouTube to film unusual locations for some of his trademark dishes and cooking a feast of scallops in just a pair of skimpy shorts on a snow-capped mountain is just one example.

It resulted in an appearance on RTE's Saturday Night Show and now the game-for-a-laugh restaurateur has been snapped up by RTE for one of its flagship shows.

Paul will rub shoulders with Daithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane as he fills one of the resident celebrity chef slots on The Today Show, showcasing his unique twist on cooking. "We'll certainly have a bit of fun and, hopefully, we will whet the nation's appetite with some no nonsense and healthy options," he stated.

Paul is understood to have made an instant impression at an audition in RTE's Cork studios and was invited to present the regular cooking slot on the hit afternoon show from early October.

"I am over the moon with this as it's an incredible opportunity - to think that the day I spent freezing my scallops off on top of a Kerry mountain has led to this, is incredible," the father of two stated.
