TAKING part in the Skoda Cycle Series Kerry stage in May is going to be a lot easier for one lucky Kerryman reader thanks to a new competition in which we're giving away a state-of-the-art bike worth €2,000.

Kerryman Managing Director John Feerick said he was delighted to announce the details of the competition in which a €2,000 'Giant' carbon fibre bike is up for grabs - as part of The Kerryman's 110th birthday celebrations.

The racer, manufactured by Giant, is made of extremely light and durable carbon fibre and comes with Shimano Ultegra components making it the perfect bike on which to race the Skoda Cycle Series Kerry stage on Saturday, May 31, next or just to simply to explore our beautiful terrain.

Launched earlier this year in association with The Kerryman, the Skoda Cycle Series will take in seven stages from Sligo to Kerry over the summer. The Kerry leg of the series also comprises the first day of the Kingdom Alliance Sportive Tour of Kerry 2014 - a stage taking cyclists into the heart of our most beautiful scenery over two available routes (80km and 136km).

With comedian Karl Spain and model Vogue Williams also taking part, interest is ramping up.

"Interest is increasing rapidly for the whole cycle series as well as the Kerry stage, less than three months out from the Tour of Kerry, and we're delighted to launch the competition this week for what is simply a fantastic bicycle," Kerryman MD and keen cyclist John Feerick said.

Simply collect tokens over the next three weeks and you could be in with a chance of winning the Giant racer in time for the challenging racing of May and early June. The Skoda series allows cyclists of all grades to record their times and monitor their improving performances between the first stage in Sligo on April 5 next and the final stage in Co Louth on August 31.
