THE organisers of this year's action packed Rose of Tralee street carnival are asking local businesses to support them in their efforts to stage the best possible festival.

The Festival of Kerry Support Group, a voluntary body, is asking traders and vintners in Tralee to kindly donate what they can to help cover the cost of bringing over 200 hours of free and affordable family entertainment to Tralee for the Festival.

The Chairman of the Festival of Kerry Support Group, Danny Leane said it's hoped to raise over €100,000 from local businesses to cover the considerable cost associated with of staging such a large event.

Door to door fundraising will get underway this week with business offered the opportunity to support the carnival with varying sponsorship packages available.

"This year's Festival will run for seven days during which time we will offer nightly bar exemptions and the biggest line-up of entertainment ever seen on the streets of Tralee. We are aiming to break the €100,000 ceiling during this year's door-to-door fundraising drive and we are asking the local business community to dig deep once again. We appreciate the support that everyone has given to help us deliver free and affordable entertainment to a local and visiting audience since 2007," he said.

"Whether a corporate, gold, silver or bronze sponsor of the street festival we look forward to your support and what we hope will be another successful Festival for everyone," said Danny Leane, Chairman of the Festival of Kerry Support Group," said Danny Leane.
