EVERYTHING from country to blues and pop will be covered by a talented bunch of local musicians in a special concert on May 2 next, marking the culmination of a great year for these students of a music course in Listowel.
All are students of the Music and Performing Arts course (Fetac Level 5) at Listowel Community College and are keen to bring all they have learned over the past year before the public in the forthcoming concert.
Taking place at St John's on May 2 next, it will bring the seven students of the course before music fans of north Kerry. However, following a year's intense study, the group are already veteran performers so rather than exhibiting any nerves at present they are simply chomping at the bit to get up on stage.
"We had our first concert before a packed Siamsa Tire at the start of the year," student Robert Carr told The Kerryman during a break in end-of-year finals on Friday.
"It was fantastic and we're well-used to performing by now so we can't wait for St John's! It's going to be a pretty eclectic mix of pop, country and blues and none of it will be too heavy as we're trying to appeal to the broadest possible audience," Robert said.
"There are seven of us on the course and it has been fantastic, we've learned a great deal and we're keen now to show what we've learned on stage in a concert that really marks the culmination of our study over the year."
Tickets are available at the very reasonable price of €5 (€3 for those under-16). Phone St John's on (068) 22566 to book.
