INDEPENDENT Deputy Michael Healy Rae has been revealed as the celebrity judge who will put the contestants in the upcoming 'Ardfert Idol' talent competition through their paces at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee, on March 28.
The outspoken politician will join Margaret Brick and Donal O'Flaherty on the judging panel for what is expected to be a big night's entertainment to raise funds for the local juvenile football club.
The brainchild of Ardfert GAA man Stephen Wallace, Ardfert Idol will see 23 performers take to the stage to showcase their singing talents either individually or in groups.
The event, which was officially launched at Ardfert Community Centre on Friday night, promises everything from 'Jedward to The Beatles' Stephen said, and will be based on the American TV show format.
For the past few weeks contestants have been working with choreographer and well known performer and dance teacher, Debbie Driscoll, who is putting together a spectacular show, Stephen says.
"This isn't just a karaoke competition. It's all about the performance and the opening sequence where all the acts perform together will lift the roof off Ballyroe," he said.
"We have solo singers, boy bands, and girl bands. Everything from Jedward to The Beatles and we are thrilled that Michael Healy Rae has agreed to give up his time and come on board to judge the competition with Margaret and Donal. We are just so grateful to everyone who is participating and helping make the event a success."
Tickets for the show will be available from juvenile club officer over the next few weeks.
