THERE'S has been a huge response to Tralee Musical Society and The Kerryman's plans to bring the legendary Tops of the Town Competition back to the stage in Kerry.
Late last year The Kerryman announced it was teaming up with the award winning musical society to bring back the competition which was such a smash hit in Kerry from the late 1960s right through until the mid 80s.
The appetite to bring back the Tops has been massive and we've had applications from all over Kerry with community groups, musical societies, workmates and pub teams from Tralee, Killarney, Killorglin, Ballyheigue and farther afield all coming on board.
The dates for the heats have now been provisionally arranged and the first competitors are due to take to the stage at Moyderwell Hall in Tralee on March 3 with the second and third heats provisionally arranged for March 10 and March 24 and the grand final to take place late April.
"We're thrilled with the response. We have groups signing up from all over Kerry," said Tralee Musical Society's Tim Landers.
Open to groups of up to 30, with a minimum age of 14, the only absolute requirement is that each group put together a 30 to 35 minute show incorporating music, song, comedy dance and drama. Anyone interested in getting involved can contact The Kerryman or check out Tralee Musical Society's Facebook page.
