This weekend some of Ireland's top traditional musicians will join their international counterparts in a series of concerts staged over two nights in Halla na Feothnaí.
Traditional artists from Estonia, Sweden, Norway and Gallicia will perform alongside local talent such as Dún Chaoin's Ogie Ó Sé and singer and musician Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh as part of Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh which begins today (Wednesday) and runs for five days in total.
"Highlights include Connemara sean nós singer Johnny Mhairtín Learaí, who'll be appearing on Saturday night, along with Danny Meehan, Laoise Kelly, Róisín Ní Mhainín, Sigrid Moldestad, Tarmo Noormaa, Ógie Ó Sé, Bryan O'Leary and other guests," said Scoil Cheoil Director Niamh Ní Bhaoill.
"Canadian dancer Nic Gareiss is part of the Friday night concert line-up, which also includes Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Anxo Lorenzo, Conor Byrne, Johan Hedin, Mairi Nic a'Ghobhainn, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Charlie Piggott."
"Local musician and music teacher Dr Aoife Granville will also speak on the history, traditions and music of the Dingle Wrens on Thursday at 8pm in the Blasket Centre while a sean-nós dance workshop with Nic Gareiss takes place on Sunday at 4pm in Scathláin, Ballyferriter."
Concert tickets cost €15 apiece and are available from Óstán Ceann Sibéal, Ballyferriter or at the door on the night.
