OVER 450 country music enthusiasts packed into Ballygarry House Hotel last Friday night as Annascaul country music star Noreen Ashe launched her first solo CD, ' Waltzing Thro' Ireland'.
The accomplished musician was joined in Tralee by a star studded country music line-up which included PJ Murrihy, Dermot Moriarty, Mike Condon, Eddie Lee, Noreen's brother Johnny Ashe, Danny and Mary O'Leary.
Overwhelmed by the turnout, Noreen told The Kerryman that she would have been delighted if only half that number of people had turned up to support her first solo release.
"I was so delighted, it was a great night and people literally came from all over. I just want to thank everyone for supporting me in this," she said.
"I've always wanted to release a solo CD; after the death of my parents I just thought I have to do this. This just seemed like my time and i'm so happy with the outcome," Noreen added.
Noreen hails from a family of traditional musicians and is a well known face and voice all over the county, especially in West and Mid Kerry. Her father Dan Ashe was lauded as an accomplished accordion player and polka set dancer. Noreen's brother Johnny Ashe from Keel, Castlemaine is also well established on the local and national country music scene.
'Waltzing Thro' Ireland' is available in country music stores in Tralee and Killarney and in a number of local shops around West and Mid Kerry and you will be able to catch Noreen as she performs a number of gigs in Annascaul, Milltown, Killorglin and Dingle in the run up to Christmas.
