BARELY a week after being crowned the Kerry School of Music's Student of the Year, Tarbert girl Caitríona Fitzmaurice (13) brought home two medals from the European Irish Dancing Championships in Dusseldorf at the weekend, proving herself one of the finest multi-talents of her generation in north Kerry!

And the same was true for sister Máiréad (17), who also captured two European medals and came very close in the running in the Kerry School of Music's prestigious annual award recently.

The girls dance with the Johnny Cronin school and travelled to Dusseldorf this weekend for the European Irish Dancing Championships.

Proud parents Margaret and Sean were over the moon for their daughters this week. Caitríona (pictured right) was recently announced the Kerry School of Music Student of the Year after she got through to the finals of the school's annual competition. An accomplised singer, violist and pianist, Caitríona took the title after performing a favourite song.

"I sang 'Little Girls' from Annie. I was absolutely shocked to be honest when I was announced as the Student of the Year. It was fantastic!" she said. The title comes with a scholarship and a prominent place singing solo under Kerry School of Music Director Aidan O'Carroll's forthcoming series of concerts around the county.
