HUNDREDS of traders and animal dealers from across Munster descended on the west Limerick village of Glin on Saturday for the annual Old Fair Day.
The traditional gathering on December 7 saw the village square transformed into a scene from years gone by, with horse and cattle dealers gathering from early morning in the hope of making a few bob in the run up to Christmas. Potential buyers also flocked to the village to pick up a bargain and enjoy the dozens of trade stalls that lined the streets set up throughout the day.
And with Christmas just around the corner, visitors were also treated to a fantastic range of domestic poultry on offer, with traders bringing along chickens, turkeys and geese for the season that's in it. The annual fair on Saturday coincided with this year's Christmas Craft Fair, which took place in the local Ceol Corbrai Community Hall. Dozens of locals and visitors made their way to the centre throughout the day, leaving with a host of fabulous stocking fillers and Christmas presents from some of the area's finest craftspeople and food producers.
