Followers of fashion to flock to KPFA show
DEDICATED followers of fashion will be out in force at the Malton Hotel in Killarney next month for night of style - and substance - organized by the Kerry Parents & Friends Association (KPFA).
The group held a fashion show in 2012 and such was its success that the KPFA Community Group and Rehabilitative Training (RT) Group were convinced to take to the catwalk once again.
The big night takes place at The Malton on Wednesday night, May 7 at 7.30pm and marks the fourth fashion show organised by the members of the Community and RT groups.
Organisers will be hoping for similar success this time around and a repeat of the wonderful support given to them by their families, friends and sponors. In particular they will be hoping for a return of fashion lovers from across Kerry for the big night.
"All our models are young adults with intellectual disabilities.
"They are the definite stars of the show as they dance and strut their stuff down the catwalk. They enjoy the supportive response from the audience," KPFA spokesperson Kate Kariuki said.
"We consider our show to be unique as, although our models are adults with learning disabilities, this has in no way impaired their ability to plan and take part as models in our fashion show," she added.
In fact all the models on the night will have been involved from start to finish in the big night and will put in a huge amount of preparations in the coming days into everything from choosing the music and clothes to designing the posters and tickets.
As always the event has been widely supported by businesses in Killarney and from further afield.
The collections taking to the catwalks on the night will include men and women's fashion from: New Look, Tesco, Paco, Elvery Sports, Burton's, Kerry GAA Store, Wisteria and Niche boutiques.
The Kerry Parents and Friends fashion show takes place on May 7at The Malton at 7.30pm Tickets can be purchased at The Old Monastery on Port Road or at the door on the night.
