New Year's revellers will literally be dancing on the streets from 7pm right through to the midnight countdown and beyond, and if last year's inaugural event is anything to go by Killarney town centre could be welcoming hundreds of party goers.

The big street bash will kick off on Main Street with a special event for the family, including a Disney Disco and street entertainment. Youngsters are being encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Disney character and, as they are sure to be tucked up by midnight, they will also enjoy their very own mini-countdown at 9pm.

Fun for the adults starts at 9pm when the renowned Brass & Co take to the Main Street stage. The nine-piece band includes a line-up of vocalists, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and a full brass section.

Next on stage is DJ Gavin O'Leary who will be playing some favourite tunes from the year gone.

MC for the night is Radio Kerry's Brendan Fuller.

Organisers from Christmas in Killarney are promising a plethora of surprises for the New Year's Eve celebration, and say that this year's Street Bash will be even better that the inaugural event last year.

"We had a huge turn-out and it was a rip-roaring success. We hope this year will be just as successful and have a great line up organised, with entertainment appealing to all ages," said Gemma Kavanagh, who is organising the event alongside committee members Marian Lyne, Padraig Harnett and Catherine O'Sullivan.

"Our aim last year was to establish Killarney as a New Year's Eve destination – to keep locals in town and bring people into Killarney for the night. And after the success of last year's event we believe Killarney is fast becoming the number one place to be on New Year's Eve," she added.
