A CHRISTMAS themed cooking demonstration by top Irish chef, Simon Regan, will kickstart this year's Listowel Food Fair on Thursday, November 21 - opening four days of exciting events for food lovers in the town and the broader north Kerry area.
The two-hour 'Festive Feast' will take place at the Listowel Arms Hotel at 8pm, where the head chef at the Panorama Restaurant in Killarney's five star Europe Hotel will illustrate how to spice up the traditional Christmas Dinner using locally sourced produce.
He will also give some tips on how to pre-prepare for a stress free Christmas in the kitchen and show how to create a one pot wonder Christmas morning brunch.
Simon will also give some creative seasonal alternatives on the traditional Christmas dinner, including the cooking of locally sourced game.
The evening will also feature a 'Chef's table' where guests attending will be drawn by lottery to sample some of the courses on the night.
The event will also feature bakery delights and wine compliments of Garvey's Supervalu, Listowel.
This event is always one of the most popular on the Listowel Food Fair calendar and tickets, costing €15, are available now from John R's Food Hall and McKennas in Listowel.
There will also be a limited number of tickets available on the door on the night.
Other highlights over this year's Listowel Food Fair include the announcement of the Best Artisan Emerging Food Product Awards; a host of workshops for all ages; nutritional and dietary seminars; Artisan pop up shops and the annual farming seminar.
Children will also be getting in on the action over the four days, taking part in events such as the Bord Bia schools' competition, chocolate workshop for kids, a children's workshop with festive treats and a cupcake workshop with Marie Hanrahan for 7 - 11 year olds.
