TARBERT people got a musical start to Christmas with the Kerry School of Music's Joy to the World Christmas Concert at St Mary's Church on Sunday night.
Featuring some of the finest musicians from the area and, indeed, from right across the county, it kickstarted the season on the perfect note in the north Kerry village as beautiful music raised the spirits of everyone who attended.
And it was a very big night for one local in particular - concert special guest and Kerry School of Music Student of the Year, Caitríona Fitzmaurice. Along with the school's outstanding orchestra, pianist and violinist Caitríona performed out of her skin, doing her home proud and playing no small part in making Christmas in Tarbert so special.
But Caitríóna wasn't the only major talent from Tarbert taking part in the concert as her sister Máiréad also joined her in a wonderful rendition of Pi Jesu from Andrew Llyod Weber's Requiem.
Tarbert talents Bryon Cregan and Rachel Martin sent spirits soaring through their music on the piano and violin, respectively, and local woman Kathleen Lehane shone on the Clarinet, playing Winter Wonderland and The Snowman.
Lixnaw contralto Sinead Leahy meanwhile gave voice to Handel's O Thou That Tellest, from the Messiah, in another thrilling piece.
As if all that weren't enough, the good folks of Tarbert Community Centre put on a post-concert spread for performers and audiences in a lovely end to the night.
