Cian releases compilation from 'the other side'
CORCA Dhuibhne native Cian Ó Cíobháin, who has established himself as one of Ireland's leading DJs, last week released a new compilation of music from his RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta music show An Taobh Tuathail.
Entitled 'ATT Volume 6', the compilation features 19 tracks in a mixture of styles including acoustic, electronic and neo-classical, derived from Cian's eclectic choice of music which has featured on An Taobh Tuathail ('the other side') over the past year.
Irish contributors on ATT Volume 6 include a track by Cubs from Galway's Rusted Rail label and music by Eileen Coyle from Cavan who is a member of the 1940s close harmony group The Bugle Babes.
The collection's penultimate track is by gifted Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson.
Cian, the son of Seán Ó Cíobháin who worked with Raidió na Gaeltachta since it was established in Baile na nGall, has been described as the Irish John Peel in the course of his career has been producing and presenting the flagship RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta show An Taobh Tuathail for the past 14 years which has amassed a large and loyal following.
"Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life," was Cian's view.
"I love that I can spend my life seeking out and listening to new music and bringing it to people who, like me, have a passion for music."
ATT Volume 6 is now available to download from RTE.ie/rnag. An Taobh Tuathail is broadcast Monday to Friday on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta from 9pm-11pm.
