THE festive season will arrive a little early this month as quiz buff are put to the test to raise funds to ensure a very merry Christmas in Killarney this December.
The annual festival kicked off back in 2005 with the aim of funding new Christmas lights for the town but has gone from strength to strength since with attractions including a festive Santa's village, sleigh rides through Killarney, craft and food fairs and the popular open air market.
Every year the festival kicks off with a magical torchlight parade before Santa arrives to turn on the lights, but things will get off to an early start this year thanks to a fundraising quiz at the Killarney Avenue Hotel.
All the proceeds from the quiz night on Thursday, November 14 will go towards turning Killarney into a winter wonderland, and help fund the cost of town centre decorations, lighting, events and promotion of the Christmas in Killarney festival.
With funding and sponsorship still needed the Christmas in Killarney committee this week issued a challenge of groups of friends and work colleagues to come along and put their general knowledge to the test for a good cause.
The quiz will kick off at 9pm and tables of four cost €10 per person. There will also be a bumper raffle and spot prizes up for grabs.
