SPEECH and drama classes are beginning again in mid-November in the Castleisland area under the direction of Maggie Prendiville and in affiliation with The Leinster School of Music and Drama.

These classes foster self-confidence and clarity of speech in children. They promote free expression of children's imaginations and creativity and enable confident and articulate expression.

"Activities in our speech and drama classes include: the sharing and presenting of news, information and ideas; physical, vocal and mental warm-ups; Story, book and poem sharing; language dynamics; voice, speech and pronunciation exercises; exploring poetry; communication skills and creative drama and improvisation," said Ms. Prendiville.

Each year in May, the Leinster School of Music and Drama visit to examine participating students.

"Well done to all students who sat the exams earlier this year. The results were excellent and a special note must be made of Fia Lawless, Therese Keane and Orla Keane who achieved first class honours and medals," said their proud tutor.

Interested parents can contact Ms. Prendiville, M.A., A.D.L.S.M.D. on 086 0527166 to secure a place for their child in the classes.
