DON O'Neill's emotional week did take a turn for the better on Sunday night when US TV presenter Mary Kitchen chose a very special gown to wear to the Oscars - his stunning sunset gown inspired by his native Ballyheigue.

The beautiful brunette looked amazing in the dress that is hugely personal to him - as it was inspired by the Ballyheigue sunsets he treasures.

"I'm beyond excited, beyond thrilled and beyond moved," he told The Kerryman. "Ballyheigue on the red carpet at the Oscars. Whoever in their wildest dreams could have imagined this."

In a tweet to the OMG Inside presenter, Don said: "Thank you for bringing Ballyheigue sunset to the Oscar red carpet. You look stunning! Woohoo."

He later added: "That dress is so special to me and so honoured you chose to wear it to the Oscars #ballyheigueSunsetfabulous"
