The club has been hosting spectacular and wildly popular Strictly Come Dancing fundraisers for three years, with the latest held last August in the Festival Dome.

That last event, which was won by Stacks player Wayne Guthrie and Norma O'Brien, saw 24 dancers compete and on Friday night the club hosted a party for everyone who had taken part and been involved in organising the event.

Those organisers included dance trainer Jackie O'Mahony, who trained the dancers over six long months, and Maria Hickey and Aidan O'Connor who headed up the large organising committee.

At the party on Friday night all involved sat down to watch the recently released DVD of the night and officially launched next year's event which will take place in the Dome on Saturday August 24.

Strictly Come Dancing events have become increasingly popular around the country in the last year but Austin Stacks were one of the first club's in Ireland to capitalise on the smash hit TV show's popularity.

The net profit from last August's event has been used to place a deposit on the purchase of a juvenile pitch and the DVD of the night is now for sale, for €5, at Austin Stacks clubhouse and in Garvey's Super Valu on Rock Street.
