Attention history fans

DID you know that 260 survivors of 13 different sunken vessels landed in Kerry during World War II?

That's just one of the fascinating snippets about the period sure to interest history fans in a lecture in Listowel's Seanchaí on Friday, May 3, next at 8pm.

As part of the Listowel Military Festival, Cork author Mark McShane will be on hand to tell the lesser-known story of Kerry's involvement in the massive global conflict.

Author of Neutral Shores: Ireland and the Battle of the Atlantic, McShane will also give a great overview of the entire naval war in the Atlantic.

The Seanchaí will also host an exhibition of war memorabilia in conjunction with Jim Halpin and the Listowel Military Museum as part of the Festival. Tickets for the lecture are just €5 and are available directly from the Seanchaí on (068) 22212 or info@kerrywritersmuseum.com.
