A taste of Ballybunion

Published 13/11/2013 | 05:36

Ballybunion Sea & Cliff Rescue bolunteers Gary Kavanagh, Grace Flahive and Emmet Lynch are getting ready for the ‘Tastin Ballybunion’ fundraiser at the Listowel Arms Hotel.

RENOWNED chef Mark Doe will once again lend his support to the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue team by hosting a fundraising food demonstration and tasting evening on Saturday, November 30.

Following on from the success of last year's Tastin' Ballybunion event, the local rescue service have decided to make it an annual fundraiser for the local rescue unit.

Although moving to the Listowel Arms this year, the event will follow the same format as last year, with the Firies based chef preparing a starter, main course and dessert which can be sampled by audience members. Several food and drink vendors will also be there on the night, giving out samples and selling their products, similar to what turned out to be a very much enjoyed mini market last year. "Last year we had a sell out crowd and the feedback was massively positive so we decided it must continue," said PRO of Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue, Omar Fitzell.

"Tastin' Ballybunion is going on tour this year and we're bringing a taste of Ballybunion to Listowel. Mark Doe is back for another night of gastronomic wonder, showing how to create some fantastic dishes."

While the bigger venue does offer a larger capacity, tickets (priced at €10) are still limited so early booking is advisable Grace Flahive on (086) 064 8035 or email ballybunionrescue@gmail.com
