The Mid-Summer Dog Show was held on Saturday in the Town Park as part of Féile na mBláth 2013 and it proved a fun day for all in attendance.

Sean Lyons from Tralee was the MC and Ciss O'Connor was the judge of the competition where there was great amusement between the two of them and the crowd was kept entertained throughout.

Ciss says she judges the shows "for fun, for free and for the charities" and critiques the dogs on the way their owners can handle them, their coats and the way they stand.

The show was for all types of dogs, not just for purebreds. Mr Lyons described all the children, who were involved, as fantastic and as dog handlers, the children were "all very good" he said.

Some of those who brought their pets to the show included Stacey Murphy from Ballinorig who owns 'Kia', 'Prince' and 'Ginger'. She enjoyed some success when 'Kia' came in second place in the 'Toy Dog' category.

Also taking part was 'Cloud', a three and half year old Bearded Collie cross, owned by Christina Dureke and Richard O'Connor from Tralee.

'Miley', a six month old Huskey owned by Barbara and Amelia Mol also impressed Ciss with her white coat. Barbara and Amelia said she loves going for walks on the beach, through Tralee town and swimming in the sea.

A hugely enjoyable time was had at an event which is proving very popular at the festival every year.
