FUND raising is in full swing to help finance this summer's Munster Fleadh Cheoil which comes to Killarney for the first time.
The event is expected to bring an extra 10,000 visitors to the town between July 14-20 as fleadh fans will no doubt include a trip on their annual summer holidays for plenty of music, song and dance, as well as free concerts of course.
Local CCE branches on board include the Killarney, Fossa/Two Mile, Kilcummin, Glenflesk and Sliabh Luachra branches and funds from a Fossa CCE branch céilí held on December 8 were last week handed over to fleadh organisers.
The event raised €900 and Fossa/Two Mile Chairman Tim Kissane presented the funds to Munster Fleadh Treasurer Maurice Guilfoyle at The Travel Inn on Saturday last.
Tim thanked dance teacher Catherine Joy and the Fossa committee for their work in organising the Céilí, while Chairman of Killarney Fleadh Committee Eoin Ó Carra thanked Fossa/Two Mile for their initiative and generosity.
Meanwhile, the Fossa/Two Mile branch will host its next Rambling Night at the Travel Inn, Fossa, on Saturday next, January 11, starting at 8.30pm. All singers, dancers, musicians and storytellers are welcome.
